Match Reports

Belper Town   U12’s    1   Duffield Dynamo’s 2    15th November 2009

‘A last minute blow for the Nailer’s’

On the back of a well fought cup game against ADASC last week, Belper look well organised, Duffield however forced the pressure early on, in response the pressure, with only 5 minutes on the clock, Josh Smethem neatly passed the ball to Sam Hallam who in turn laid on Jamie Haskins to convert the goal low and hard in to the back of the net. 1-0 to Belper Town.

Duffield, shocked by the early deficit, then took full advantage of a defensive mix up in the Nailer’s penalty box and strolled in a loose ball past the helpless Sol Swarvett in goal to equal the score line 1-1 after 10 minutes.

Duffield continued to pressure Belper’s defence and at times Belper were unable to get past the half way line. Sol Swarvett pulled of a magnificent save to stop the away side doubling the lead.  As half time approached Jamie Haskins, squared the ball to Connor Adams who passed to Sam Hallam, but was eventually forced off the ball.

After the re-start Sol was again the hero at full stretch in the nets, Harry Tilson came off the bench and passed the ball on several occasions to the front men. Josh Smethem battled hard and created numerous chances for Sam and Jamie.

Owen Patrick also came off the bench and linked brilliantly with Harry Everley on the right hand side of play, Harry was tremendous in controlling the game on the right hand and centre of midfield. Harry Tilson played some great one two football with Jamie Haskins, but Duffield stood firm in defence and cleared all attempts on goal by the advancing Belper Town forwards.

Despite the gallant and brave defending of George Walker, Josh Meredith, Ellis Butcher and Elliot Clow, Duffield scored the killer goal 2 minutes from time , a beautifully curved shot hit low and hard the far corner of the net. Final Score 1-2

ADASC U12’s   1   Belper Town   U12’s    1      8th November 2009

‘The Galliant young Nailers showed real character to draw level’

Having only played ADASC two weeks ago losing 1 – 5, this 1st round cup game was envisaged to be a tough call for the visiting side.

With 1 minute on the clock ADASC were firing on all cylinders putting pressure on the back four, it took nearly 20 minutes for the game the to settle into any rhythm, all four defenders making solid tackles and clearances that only frustrated the home side.

Jack Webster laid on chances to both Owen Patrick and Connor Adams several times but only as far as the penalty box, Elliot Clow laid on some superb through balls to Sam Hallam who on occasions beat the off side trap but his crosses were either cleared and collected by a well organised home side.

Ellis Butcher made some teriffic crunching tackles as did Josh Smethem who worked tirelessly throughout the match. Scott Milestone was back on form with his timed tackles and lay off’s to Harry Everley on the right wing.

After the re-start Belper Town were starting to look more composed and comfortable on the ball, but with 10 minutes played a fierce shot fired passed the helpless Sol Swarvett in goal to break the dead-lock (1-0)

This is when the young nailers stood up to the challenge, Jack Webster coming closest with his shot being cleared off the line after beating the keeper, Belper had several corners but could not convert the much needed goal.

ADASC nearly doubled the lead had it not been for the courage and bravery of Sol Swarvett and doggedness of the defence and midfield clearing the ball. But with injury time being played Josh Smethem’s rebounded shot from a Connor Adams cross was finally curved in by Ellis Butcher beating the keeper at the far post (1-1). A well deserved goal for the efforts of the 11 young men.

Extra time was played, Luke Harrison made several defensive clearances, but a great chance fell to Sam Hallam on the left wing but the ball was cleared out of play. In the second period of extra time Sol Swarvett came back into actions catching a high ball from a free kick.

ADASC must have felt aggrieved for not stealing all 3 points after a low shot had beat Sol but rebounded of the outside of the goal post.

Final Score (1-1) Re-match required.

Belper Town U12’s  ADASC U12’s 5 – 25th October 2009

‘ADASC too classy for an injury stricken Belper Town’

Following a string of poor results, Belper Town were lacking 3 regular first team players against an inform ADASC side. However it was the Nailers that almost scored first with Jamie Haskins shooting directly at the away team’s keeper.

ADASC proved there fitness and quality on 6 minutes with a lobbed shot an acute angle beating the helpless Sol Swarvett in goal. Belper fought a terrific mid field battle and managed to level the score line on 20 minutes with Connor Adams providing a through ball to Jamie Haskins. (1-1)

Belper took the upper hand and nearly doubled the advantage but it was ADASC who lead before the break mirroring the first goal (1-2)

The second half saw Belper Town lifeless and second to the ball for a good 20 minutes from the restart, ADASC took full advantage drilling home 3 further goals, albeit 2 goals were subjective offside decisions overruled by the referee (1-5)

Belper Town dug deep and proved that the game was far from over Ellis Butcher linked well with Harry Everley, only to see his shot hit the side netting. It was with five minutes remaining that  Belper Town reduced the deficit with a cleverly worked ball starting with Scott Milestone passing a diagonal ball to Elliot Clow who laid on Harry Everley who sent a through ball to Jamie Haskins shooting into the far corner of the net (2-5)

Belper’s defence and midfield restored the balance in what seemed to be a one sided affair, Josh Meredith, George Walker, Jack Webster and Jake Norbury all playing their part.

Mickleover’95  U12’s  1  Belper Town U12’s 5

‘A great start to the Cup Run for Belper Town’

Mickleover’95 fielded a 10 man squad against an inform Belper Town, after just 4 minutes from the start Connor Adams took the lead from a cross ball from Sam Hallam (0-1) Jamie Haskins had a number of chances go begging with his shots going either wide or over the goal.

Mickleover’95 retaliated but thanks to Josh Smethem who battled hard in the midfield to prevent any threats in the Belper Half. The Nailor’s doubled the lead on 12 minutes, Jack Webster shot from outside the box low and hard in the bottom corner (0-2)

Elliot Clow and Ellis Butcher work tirelessly in the first half preventing the opposition’s centre forwards near on goal. Then on 30 minutes, Jamie Haskins turned provider as he drilled a cross ball low for Sam Hallam to sweep home goal number three (0-3)

Jake Norbury headed out the oncoming cross ball attacks from Mickleover’95, but the game was effectively over on the stroke of half time when substitute Owen Patrick skilfully converted Joshua Smethem’s cross ball (0-4)

The second half was a much more even game with Belper dominating the majority of the possession, however two minutes after the restart, Sam Hallam picked up a through ball and ran the offside trap and guided the shot past the helpless keeper (0-5).

With ten minutes remaining Sol Swarvett, the Nailor’s keeper, was adjudged to have dragged down Mickleover’s centre forward in the penalty box, Mickleover took full advantage, Sol was unlucky to save the penalty shot (1-5)

Belper responded to the penalty and ended the game how they started by playing good passing football, this created several chances falling to Elliot, Ellis and Harry Tilson, who all had shots on goal.

The man of the match was undoubtedly George Walker for is performance in the heart of the defence, his clearances and intelligent passing to the wing players.

Belper Town U12’s  2  Riverside U 12’s  0  (27.9.09)

‘A 110% Effort from Belper Town’

From the start Riverside looked bubbly and organized, forcing several attacks on Belper’s defence, however it was George Walker who made the first of several crunching tackles. The galliant young Nailer’s soon responded with Josh Smethem making countless runs at the Riverside goal.

It was on 10 minutes played that the deadlock was broken a throw in by Scott Milestone on the right hand side was then flicked on by Connor Adams, then coolly flicked over the keeper by Jamie Haskins, (1-0)

Riverside responded but Josh Meredith was on hand to prevent any on coming challenges, Belper then dominated the remainder of the first half with Elliot Clow spaying some great diagonal balls to the font and wing players.

Belper looked to score a second, Jamie Haskins laid on Sam Hallam, but his high shot was collected by Riverside’s keeper. At the other end, Sol Swarvett was at full stretch to clear a loose shot wide of the post.

On the restart Josh Smethem was relentless in dominating the midfield play laying off the wing attackers of both Owen Patrick and Connor Adams, Owen then nearly doubled the lead shooting straight at the keeper from a corner created Jamie Haskins whose shot was parried wide by a very busy Riverside keeper.

Then on 50 minutes, Scott Milestone ran the full length of the pitch on the right hand side, crossing a deep ball to Jamie Haskins, who then in turn laid the ball onto the oncoming path of Owen Patrick who’s shot from the left of the goal hit high into the back of the net (2-0)

Riverside created few chances in the second half, one shot did strike the up right of the home goal, but was eventually cleared out of play. Jake Norbury and Luke Harrison shored up the defence and mid field to ensure a clean sheet for Belper Town.

Ellis Butcher and Elliot Clow both had chances in the dying seconds of the game, however all three points by then where in the bag, a well deserved win.
